‘Survivor' school bus tape has driver in hot water

A Buena Vista, Pa., school bus driver encouraged students to jump around, throw things and misbehave on her moving bus so she could make an audition videotape for the reality television show Survivor , police said.

Maureen Monaghan was charged with recklessly endangering children after allegedly urging 10 students to act up on her bus for the video, which she hoped would earn her a spot on the CBS show.

A separate camera on the inside of the bus recorded the Jan. 6 incident, and the bus company gave the footage to police.

It was not clear why the driver wanted misbehaving students in the video.

Monaghan's attorney, Charles LoPresti, did not immediately return a phone message left at his office last week, and Monaghan's employer, Pennsylvania Coach Lines, would not comment.

Miller employee claims he was fired for drinking Bud

Isac Aguero, 24, said he was fired from his job with a Miller Brewing distributor the same day a picture appeared in The Journal Times of Racine, Wis., of him drinking a Bud Light, which is brewed by Anheuser-Busch Co.

The photo, taken Feb. 5, was part of the newspaper's weekly “On the Town” feature, which depicts the city's night life.

Aguero, who had been a forklift operator at CJW Inc. for four years, told the newspaper he was informed by co-workers when he arrived at work Monday that he was in trouble because of the picture.

He said he was called into the general manager's office and told he was fired. Aguero said he was not given a reason and claimed he never had problems with his bosses.

Thomas Bey, a CJW sales manager, would not answer any questions.

Lewd snow sculpture toppled over complaint

An explicit six-foot-tall snow sculpture depicting male genitals in a yard on a rural road north of Binghamton had some drivers doing a double-take last week.

It provoked a frosty reaction from one woman, who called the Broome County Sheriff's Department to complain about what she described as an “offensive” snow sculpture.

A deputy responded to the scene and was told by a woman who answered the door that the display was the work of her sons — and by the next day it was gone.
